Ousley Hill Cemetery, Lamar County, Texas
LOCATION: Ousley Hill Cemetery is in the northeast quadrant of the county, off Slate Shoals Rd. It is in Block 10 of the Lamar County Road Map produced by American Drafting and Services revised December 1993.
DIRECTIONS: The cemetery is off Slate Shoals Rd. (Farm Market Rd. #906) 5.5 miles from Highway 271, behind the once William McCarty home, now abandoned in 1996.
GPS COORDINATES: Not available
OLDEST KNOWN BURIAL: The oldest inscribed grave is that of George A. Mebane who died 17 Oct 1844.
NUMBER OF GRAVES: There 33 known grave in the cemetery. (July 2017)
SIGNS/MARKERS: There is not a sign for the cemetery.
LAST ENUMERATION: The stone crypts were deciphered by Ron Brothers and additional information on the site came from the records of Elizabeth Booth.
ADD'L INFORMATION: It contains 33 known graves, comprised of 20 stone crypts, 6 regular stone markers and one identified unmarked grave. The stone crypts were in good condition in October 1991 and are arranged in 4 rows running north to south, the first row (on the north end) beginning with crypt #1, the second row begins with crypt #4, the third row begins with crypt #12 and the fourth row begins with crypt #19.
