Baughman Cemetery, Lamar County, Texas
LOCATION: Baughman Cemetery is located in the southwest quadrant of the county near Roxton in Block 53 of the Lamar County Road Map produced by American Drafting and Services revised December 1993. It was believed that Baughman Cemetery and Griffin Cemetery were the same, but they are about a mile apart.
DIRECTIONS: Directions as provided by Lawrence and Sue Dale: In Roxton, at the intersection of FM 137 and FM 38, take FM 38 southwesterly for 7/10 miles to the intersection with CR 25300. Take CR 25300 east for 3/10 miles to the intersection with CR 25200. Take CR 25200 south and then west for 2.4 miles to a pasture gate on the left. Go through the gate and the cemetery is 2/10 miles to the west in an old grove of cedar trees most of which now are fallen. The land was known as the Doyle Childers farm and is still in the possession of a son, James Childers.

OLDEST KNOWN BURIAL: The oldest inscribed grave is that of Emma W. Baughman who died 7 Feb 1891.
NUMBER OF GRAVES: There are 4 known graves in the cemetery. (July 2017)
SIGNS/MARKERS: There is no sign for the cemetery.
LAST ENUMERATION: The cemetery was originally enumerated by Tony & Elizabeth Booth on Feb. 2, 1975. It was revisited May 6, 2014, by Lawrence and Sue Dale.
ADD'L INFORMATION: The cemetery is in very bad condition. Some markers are turned over. There were 6 identified graves in 1975. The following persons are known to be buried here: Earl Baughman 22 Dec 1891 - 13 Jun 1893, Emma W. Baughman 9 Nov 1871 - 7 Feb 1891, Mary J. Baughman 27 Sep 1837 - 29 Jan 1914, and Wesley P. Baughman 15 Jul 1830 - 15 Jan 1910. At one time, Daniel B. Saylors 31 Mar 1832 - 15 Mar 1906, and Susan L. Saylors 6 Dec 1861 - 9 Aug 1880 were listed as buried in Baughman Cemetery, but headstones were found in Griffin Cemetery with identical dates, but last name spelled as Salyers.
