Undated Funeral Home Bulletin: Granvel Griffin Blake was born January 13, 1929 to the late Preston Blake and Rosie Lee Washington Blake. Granvel accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Palestine Baptist Church of Novice, Texas. He attended Lone Star School in Novice, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Sadonia Hagens and one brother, Charles C. B. Blake. Mr. Blakes leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 65 years, Bessie Mae Blake; five sons, Joe Blake of Fort Worth, Texas, Granvel Blake Jr. of Tacoma, Washington, Ronnie Blake, Gary Blake and Marcus Blake (Telesta); two daughters, Bettie Minter (Keithie) of Tyler, Texas and Joyce Sims (James) of Paris, Texas; one sister, Margaret Dean of Brooklyn, New York; 20 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
