THE PARIS NEWS, May 18, 1989: "HONEY GROVE - Granville Brimmage, 71, of the Noble community died at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, in Baylor Medical Center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 19, in the Roxton United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery in Petty by Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home. Mr. Brimmage was born Jan. 3, 1918, in Noble, a son of Lonnie and Ollie Mae Brimmage. He married Gladyne Smart on Dec. 24, 1936. She died Nov. 11, 1980. On June 13, 1981, he married Avis Perry Thorp in Roxton. He was a farmer and rancher and a member of the Roxton United Methodist Church. He served as director of the Lamar County Electric Co-op for 23 years. Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Charlotte Brittian of Denton; one son, Larry Brimmage of Farmersville; one stepson, Billy Self of Paris; one stepdaughter, Cathy Cooper of Noble; two grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; six sisters, Signa Crofford of Dallas, Lela Chappell of Azle, Camilla Seeley of Irving, Armetha Norris of Frisco, Gwen Riddle of Irving and Lawanda Fox of Garland; and two brothers, James Brimmage of Mount Pleasant and Adolph Brimmage of Garland. He was. preceded in death by two brothers. Honorary bearers will be directors of the Lamar County Electric Co-op. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home."
