LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, Mar 12, 1970: “Mrs. Alfred C. Brown, 77 of Maxey Community, died Sunday, March 8, 1970. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Moore and Rev. J.L. Wideman officiating. Burial was in the Little Vine Cemetery. Mabel Janie White Brown, born November 6, 1892, in Cabot AR, was the daughter of Gus and Mary Wilson White. She moved to Lamar County prior to her marriage to A.C. Brown on April 12, 1912, and lived in the Maxey community. She was a member of the Maxey Baptist Church. Besides her husband, survivors include four daughters; Mrs. Dan Lassiter of Maxey, Mrs. Charles Julian of Paris, Mrs. Vester Crutchfield of Cardiff, CA and Mrs. Billy Melton of Gainesville; a son, A.W. Brown of Maxey; two sisters, Mrs. W.H. Wheeler of Paris and Mrs. J.D. Rushing of Bowie; also 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.”
