THE PARIS NEWS, Dec. 10, 1979: "Mrs. Mattie Parsons Bayer of Leisure Lodge Nursing Home died there at 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening. Funeral services are pending with Steele and Thomas Funeral Home."
THE PARIS NEWS, Dec.11, 1979: "Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Parsons Bayer of Leisure Lodge Nursing Home who died Sunday at Leisure Lodge will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Steele and Thomas Memorial Chapel. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery in Greenville. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Mrs. Bayer was born April 10, 1891, in Oklahoma City, the daughter of Thomas U. and Eliza (Newton) Parsons. She married Joseph J. Bayer in 1923 in Dallas. He preceded her in death in 1966. Mrs. Bayer was a member of the Kavanaugh Methodist Church in Greenville and was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star No. 189 in Greenville. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including one nephew, C. A. Parsons, of Paris. The family will be at the home of C. A. Parsons at 865- 10th NE.
THE PARIS NEWS, Dec. 13, 1979: Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Parsons Bayer of Leisure Lodge Nursing Home were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Steele and Thomas Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Louis Bowerman, Sr. and the Rev.- William B. Slack, Jr. officiating. Interment followed in Bethel Cemetery in Greenville. Mrs. Bayer died Sunday at Leisure Lodge Nursing Home."
