THE PARIS NEWS, Friday, 30 Jun 1944: “War Department Confirms Death of Winston Terrell - Official confirmation of the death of Pfc. Winston Terrell, younger son of Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Terrell, 460 Lamar Ave. was received Friday in a War Department telegram, which stated tat he was killed in action in Hollandia, New Guinea, April 26. His brother, Tech. Sgt. Marshall Terrell, previously had written his parents of his brother’s death, the letter having reached them May 30. A letter received from Chaplain F. M. Gresham to Mrs. Terrell said in Part: ‘Your son was a good soldier with many friends and held the admiration and respect of all his officers and comrades. His passing gave a distingct loss to his company and we will miss him. He was buried by his comrades with every possible honor and in accordance with his Christian faith.’”
