THE PARIS NEWS, June 4, 2015: "Marguerite Beard, 107, a life-long resident of Paris, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2015, in Paris Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, in the chapel of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Burton officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday, at the Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home. She was born on Jan. 2, 1908, in Paris, a daughter of William Love and Eudora Bradley Beard. Miss Beard was a legal secretary for McLaughlin Hutchison & Biard for 68 years. She was the oldest living member of First Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Tom Beard, Bill Beard, Bob Beard and Ralph Beard; sisters, Mable Haley and Virginia Watson; nephew and nieces Bobby Beard, Ann Haley Reed and Julie Beard Marcrum and husband Charles. Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Dr. James Beard and wife Joyce, Bill Haley, Jr. and wife Cherilyn, Jane Beard Whitesides and husband Edwin (deceased), Peggy Beard Stinson and husband Hurshell (deceased), Billy Beard and wife Gradie Marie, Susan Beard Snodgrass, Walter Beard and wife Christy, Richard Beard and wife Maudie and Alice Watson; and a host of other great and great-great-nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Mike Clark, Billy Haley, Scott Galyon, Mike Golding, Steve Byrd, Steve Haley, Bradley Snodgrass, Mark Lackie and Ben Adam. Honorary pallbearers are Brad Hutchison, Don Wilson, T.K. Haynes, Dr. Jerry Akers, Kerry Clark, A.W. 'Plug' Clem and Joe Camp. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting fry-gibbs.com.
