THE PARIS NEWS, May 29, 2013: "Lois Marie Beck, 86, of Paris, passed away peacefully at her home in Paris Oaks Care Center, Monday, May 20, 2013. A memorial service has been scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, May 31, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Mark Hutchison officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. on Friday, prior to the service. A private service and inurnment will be held at a later date at East Union Cemetery, in Union, Neb. Lois was born July 12, 1926, in Union, to William E. Hathaway and Bertha Pickens Hathaway. She graduated from Union High School, in Nebraska. Lois married Raymond Beck on Jan. 27, 1945, and worked during the time Raymond served in the U.S. Army. She loved to cook and bake, and she and Raymond spent many long hours, doing what they loved, which was farming and raising livestock, both in Nebraska and Minnesota. They moved to Powderly in 1977, where they made many friends and enjoyed the remaining years of their lives raising their grandchildren, working at the school cafeteria, local park, and frequenting the flea market. They were devoted members of First United Methodist Church in Powderly. A beloved wife, sister-in-law, mother, grandmother and friend to her extended family; Lois was always willing to assist others in need. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Raymond. Survivors include her brother-in-law, David Beck, of Utah; nieces, Melissa Beck Hamidi, of Boston, and Norma Beck, of Denver, Colo.; nephews, Dan Beck, of Nebraska, Shane Beck, of California and Lonny Beck, of Iowa; grandchildren, Natasha Lathrom and husband, Jason, of Rockwall, Brandon and Jordan, of Paris; their father, Terry, of Paris; and two great-grandchildren, Addyson and Isabella, of Rockwall.
