THE PARIS NEWS, August 8, 2011: "Norman Wayne Barnard, 75, of Paris, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011, at Paris Regional Medical Center. Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, at Cunningham Funeral Home, in Colbert Okla., with Michael O'Connor officiating. There will not be a family night. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cunningham Funeral Home in Colbert. He was born Aug. 31, 1935, in Deport, and attended Deport schools. He was the son of Bill and Mallie Wright Barnard. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and was a longtime member of Ramseur Baptist Church in Paris. He was employed with Warner Enterprises in Dallas as an engineer and later Scotts Computers in Paris as a computer technician. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ricky Downs; and a great-granddaughter, Alexxia Chambers. He is survived by daughters Lisa Barnard Grant, of McKinney, and Tammie Barnard, of Paris; grandchildren, Cheney Parks, of Denison, Jessica Short, of Sherman and D.J., Dustin and Jayden Vaughn, all of Cleburne, Isaah and Colby Short, both of Sherman; sister Betty Potter, of Beaumont; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.” Submitted by Linda Broyles.
