THE PARIS NEWS, September 20, 2013: "Gwendolyn Barnes, 83 of Paris, died Sept. 13, 2013, at Paris Regional Medical Center. Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. on Saturday at Solid Rock Baptist Church with Dr. J. R. Mosley, officiating. Interment will follow in Restlawn Garden Cemetery under the direction of Maxey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. on Friday at Maxey Funeral Home. Gwendolyn Barnes was born in Fort Worth on Dec. 10, 1929, to the parentage of Hugo and Codella English. She received her education in the Los Angeles Public School System. She was married to Dorsey E. Barnes and lived over 50 years in Los Angeles, Calif. She moved to Paris, Texas in 2001. She was a faithful member of the Solid Rock Baptist Church and a very devoted member of the Sunday School, which she loved. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorsey E. Barnes; parents, Hugo and Codella English; two brothers, Lorenthal and Douglas English; one grandchild, Terry Corprew; and one great-grandchild, Jasmine Corprew. She is survived by her son, Howard Corprew (Lucille); granddaughters, Michelle Corprew and Sheena Baugh, both of Paris; two cousins, Loretta Bowman of Dallas and Betty Robison of Paris; best friend, Eloise Pace; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.” Submitted by Linda Broyles.
