Unnamed, Undated Newspaper: "Rufus Harrison Barnett of Detroit died a 4 a.m. Thursday in L.P. McCuistion Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the First Baptist Church at Detroit with the pastor, the Rev. Bill Draper, officiating. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home will have charge of burial in Bluff Cemetery. The body will lie in state from 1-2 p.m. at the church. Mr. Barnett was born Jan. 24, 1896, in Arkansas, son of B.J. and Mollie (Brewer) Barnett. Me married the former Miss Alma Hughes on March 28, 1919, in Fannin County. They moved to Detroit soon after their marriage. He was a retired farmer and a veteran of World War I. Survivors include his wife; a grandson, James Sprolls of Paris; a sister, Mrs. Binnie Carter of Los Angeles, Calif., a brother, Harve Barnett of Los Angeles, Calif., and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the W.L. Nichols home, 1501 E. Price.” Submitted by Linda Broyles.
