THE PARIS NEWS, December 30, 2016: "George Edgar Banister II of Paris, Texas was called home to heaven on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016, after a long battle with congestive heart failure. George was born in Paris on Dec. 23, 1965, to Sue Carroll Weaver Banister and Phillip Curran Banister. George attended Paris schools and graduated from Greenville High School. He was a loyal and loving father, brother, grandfather and friend. His parents and one nephew, Zac Keller, preceded him in death. George is survived by his sons, Phillip Curran Banister II and wife, Ryan, of Irving, Texas and Jack Coker Banister of Paris; his daughter, Shandi Nicole Banister Jones and husband, Eric, of Amarillo, Texas; grandson Trevor Banister, of Paris; and granddaughter, Samara Jones of the home; as well as his ex-wife and friend, Vicki Coker Banister of the home. Also surviving George are sisters, Tracy Raper and husband, Greg, Cindy Quarles and husband, Shane, Mickey Banister, Ginny Sadler and husband, David, and brothers Howard Siegel and Joe Siegel and wife, Constance, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family thanks CIMA Hospice for their care and kindness, particularly Felicite, who was with us at the end and was a Godsend to us. Fry & Gibbs is handling the cremation and the family will be having a Celebration of Life for George at 3 p.m., Dec. 30th at the Raper Plantation, Lamar Point.” Submitted by Linda Broyles.
