THE PARIS NEWS, January 18, 2013: "Edward DeLoren Baker, 78, of Paris, passed from this life on Thursday. Jan. 17, 2013, at Paris Regional Medical Center. Following local arrangements by Starrett Funeral Home, funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday Jan. 20, in the auditorium of Sterling High School in Sterling, Okla., with the Rev. Michael Dye officiating. Interment will follow in the Sterling Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the school for one hour prior to the service. Ed was born June 13, 1934, in Indiahoma, Okla., a son of Opal E. and Ida Minelle Merry. He was a graduate of Indiahoma High School, and spent a career as a parts manager for automobile dealerships. Ed loved sports, and never missed a grandchild’s ball game. He was a caring gentleman who was concerned with others more than himself, especially his family and neighbors. Ed was a friendly man, who gained many friends. He never crossed anyone’s path without saying hello. His family was his world, and he would do anything for each of them. Ed will be fondly remembered for his keen sense of humor. He married Wanda Julian on Nov. 30, 1956, in Lawton, and she preceded him in death Oct. 11, 2011. In addition to his wife, Wanda, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Stephen Herndon; and a brother, Kenneth Baker. Survivors include two daughters, Kimberly Herndon and fiance´ Frank Dehaven of Trophy Club, and Kristy Rodgers and husband, James of Paris; five grandchildren, Kacey Diaz and husband, Mike, Kelsey McLaughlin, Kori McLaughlin, Katherine Rodgers and Jacob Rodgers; a great-granddaughter, Kline Diaz; two brothers, Vinton Baker and wife, Permelia of Edmond, Okla., and Tom Baker and wife, Edith of Cache, Okla.; a sister, Kathryn Bone and husband, Floyd of Lawton, Okla.; three sisters-in-law, Pat Baker of Edmond, Okla., and Thelma Henderson and Mary Lynn Julian, both of Sterling, Okla.; and a brother-in-law, Melvin Julian and wife, Pearlie, of Sterling, Okla. Named to serve as pallbearers are Hal Smith, Jimmy Al Wright, Ronnie Holt, Greg Williams, Gene Cross and Alfred Jung. In lieu of usual remembrances, the family requests memorial contributions to the Sterling United Methodist Church, 102 S. Second Street, Sterling, OK, 73567.
