THE PARIS NEWS, September 7, 2012: “Dorothy Ann Dawson Ballard, 75, of Tulsa, Okla., formerly of Paris, entered eternal rest Monday, Sept. 3, 2012. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, 1002 5th Street NE, with the Rev. William Thomas Vaughn officiating and Bishop Donald O’Neil Tyler serving Eulogist. Interment will follow in Restlawn Gardens Cemetery under the directions of Maxey Funeral Home. Dorothy Ann Dawson Ballard was born in Paris on Nov. 8, 1936, to the parentage of the late C.B. and Onie Lee Dawson. She attended Gibbons High School and worked in Paris at McCuistion Regional Medical Center. Later, she married and moved to Tulsa where she worked at Oaks Country Club and eventually answered her calling and dedicated the remainder of her career to working with the mentally disabled and handicapped as a Habilitation Training Special (HTS). Dorothy Ann was baptized at an early age and later joined Greater Grace in Tulsa. She was proceeded in death by her father, C.B. Dawson; mother, Onie Lee Dawson; Brothers, C. B. Dawson Jr., Billy Edward Dawson and Donald Ray Dawson; and sister, Betty Dawson Thompson. She is Survived by her spouse, Mr. Theohilus Ballard of Tulsa, Oklahoma; children, Billy Ray McCleary Jr. “Tasha” of Salt Lake City; Deborah Rochell Forge (James Sr.) of Houston; James Fredrick Ray (Nicole) of Fountain Inn, S.C.; Kenneth Bernard Ray (Virginia) of Oklahoma City; Fred Ray III of Oakland, Calif.; Mary Ray Reed of Stockton, Calif.; and Frederica Ray Dempsey of Tulsa. Sisters, Dorothy Baldwin and Virginia Reynolds, both of Paris; 24 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.” Submitted by Linda Broyles.
