TIMES RECORD NEWS, Thursday, July 25, 1929, p. 2: “Texas Farmer Shot To Death Near Paris. PARIS, Texas, July 24. Joe Bryan, 29, was shot to death in his home near here today. A verdict of suicide was returned by the coroner. No motive was assigned. Neighbors saying he had appeared in good health and had prospects for a good crop.”
