THE PARIS NEWS, Nov 18, 2021: “Gene Black, 71, of Paris departed this life on Nov. 10, 2021, in Brentwood Terrace Healthcare and Rehabilitation. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Richard Jones serving as eulogist. Interment will follow to Fairland Cemetery. Condolences to the family may be sent to maxeyfuneralhome.com.”

Information from Funeral Home: Gene Black, 71, of Paris departed this life on November 10, 2021, in Brentwood Terrace Healthcare and Rehabilitation. Funeral services are set for 2:00 pm Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Jones serving as eulogist. Interment will follow to Fairland Cemetery. Gene Autry Black was born April 19, 1950, in the Trinity Community of Paris, Texas. The youngest of eight children born to the parentage of the late, John Henry ‘Shoot’ Black and Helen Wade Black. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of the Greater Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. He attended B.J. Graves High School and retired from Paris Junior College. He loved to dress up in his western attire and ride horses in the country. Gene loved football, playing dominoes, and the Dallas Cowboys. He entered eternal rest on November 10, 2021. Loved Ones Who Remain: Daughter: Demetrius Boone. Grandchildren: Monesha Williams and Tavion McKinney. Also eight great grandchildren, special nieces, Sunday Kay Wooten, Ramica Black, and Carolyn Black, special nephews, Jay “Rooter” Ford, Breon and T.J., special cousins, John Ed Ellis, Margaret Wade, and Dot Ellis. Also special friends, Billy Joe King and Fred McCuin. Also a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jo Ann Cannedy Black, brothers, L.J. Black and J.T. Black, sisters, Dixie Helen Burns, Jessie Mae Buckner, and Mary Virginia Black."
