THE PARIS NEWS, Monday, 10 Aug 2015: “Sharon Thomas Thornton, 73, of Paris, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Baylor Heart Hospital in Plano. A memorial service has been scheduled for 7:00 pm, Tuesday, August 11, 2015 in the Bright-Holland Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Patrick Cannon officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, one hour prior to service time, 6-7 pm. Following the service, cremation will be conducted under the continued care and direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home. Sharon was born October 24, 1941 in Honey Grove to Thomas Jefferson Denson and Nannie Christeen Campbell Denson. She graduated from Honey Grove High School in 1960 and also graduated from Henderson County Junior College. Sharon proudly served in the U.S. Navy Waves during the Cuban Crises and Vietnam Conflict. She operated a child day care center in Paris, for 20 years. She was member, from birth at First Baptist Church in Honey Grove. Later in life, she was a proud member of Springlake Baptist Church in Paris. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Betty Jane Wright and a brother, Jerry Thomas Denson. Survivors include her two sons, Darren Denson of Paris and Christopher Thornton & wife Tabatha of Paris; five grandchildren, Nathaniel, Gabrielle, Jordan, Tristan and Madelyn all of Paris; one nephew, Kelvin Wright of Tyler; one niece, Narissa Barrett of Giddings; one great niece, Lisa Payton of Paris; one great nephew, David Payton & wife Michelle of Henderson and close friends, J. W. and Charlotte Shannon.”
