Notes

Information from funeral home: Claude Ervin Tyler was born in Lamar County on December 14, 1920 and went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at the age of 94. Funeral services have been set for Friday, January 30, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at East Post Oak Baptist Church with Rev. Henry Blackmon officiating. Interment will follow at East Post Oak Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. Claude was the oldest of 8 kids born to James and Beatrice Tyler. At the age of 16 he joined the Civilian Conservation Corp and was shipped off to Death Valley, California, Redding, California, Mt. Lassen, Oregon, Cody, Wyoming and various other place in Arizona. Claude served in the Army Air Corp during World War II, in the South Pacific 1942 through 1946. He was 25 and had a girl named Nora Lee waiting for him at home. Claude and Nora were married on February 3, 1946 and settled down on the Blossom Prairie, where he lived the remainder of his life. They had two daughters, Anna and Gail. He was a farmer and rancher. He worked as a carpenter at Paris Ready Built Homes until he retired in 1985. He served as a Deacon at East Post Oak Missionary Baptist Church for 58 years. Claude became a Mason at the age of 40 and celebrated 50 years in 2010 at the Masonic Lodge in Blossom. Claude was preceded in death by his parents, James and Beatrice; his wife of 56 years, Nora Lee Tyler; his daughter, Gail Tyler Lemonds, and two brothers, Wesley Tyler and William Tyler. He is survived by his daughter, Anna Crawford and husband Randall of Blossom; grandchildren, Randy Crawford and wife Kristy of Blossom, Jacky Crawford and wife Tonya of Nash, Texas; Amy Lemonds Leija and husband Nick of Paris, Felishia Lemonds Kerley and husband Jeff of Paris; great-grandchildren, Sydnee, Emilee and Randi Allison Crawford, Samantha Crawford, Nick III and Malachi Leija, Gail and Daniel Kerley; brothers, Forrest, Virgil and Herbert Tyler; sisters, Lois Brown and Janice Klea; 2 sister-in-laws, numerous nieces and nephews. Through the years he was blessed with a multitude of friends.

On the same stone with Nora B. Lee Tyler. Also has a military marker inscribed, "T Sgt US Army Air Forces."
