THE DEPORT TIMES, (Deport, Lamar, Texas), Friday 27 Apr 1923:
“DEATH AT PATTONVILLE
Mrs. Otha Thompson, the wife of a young farmer of the Pattonville community, who was the daughter of the late J. F. Wharton of Blossom, county commissioner, died at her home at Pattonville Friday morning. She is survived by her husband and three children and by her mother and a sister, Mrs. Allen DeBerry, of Bogata.“
From Find A Grave: Ruth Jessie Wharton was born on August 8, 1897 in Texas, daughter of Joshua ‘Frank’ Wharton and Armetta L. (Gilliam) Wharton.
Biography arranged by family researcher Jim Semple, Jr., Contributor # 47523168. She is the sister of Mamie V. Wharton (1893-1970), Wesley Wharton (1899-1937), Joshua Frank Wharton, Jr. (1903-1937), Claude A. Wharton (1906-1958), Jefferson Randall Wharton (1909-1973) and Woodrow Wilson Wharton (born 1913).
On October 6, 1915, she married Otha Frank Thompson (1891-1962). They are the parents of Helen Edith (Thompson) Ross (1916-1988), Otha Frank Thompson Jr (1919-1978) and George Wesley Thompson (1923-1977).
On April 20, 1923, Ruth J (Wharton) Thompson, age 25, passed away in Texas. Burial was in the East Post Oak Cemetery (unmarked grave), Post Oak community, near Detroit & Blossom, Lamar County, TX.
