THE PARIS NEWS, Monday, January 13, 1941: “FUNERAL HERE MONDAY FOR JOHN G. BARTON; BURIAL IN KANSAS CITY. Death of John G. Barton occurred at 6:15 p.m., Sunday at the residence of his sister-in-law, Mrs. W. J. Barton, 46 S. 25th, where he had made his home since death of his wife in 1937. He formerly resided in Kansas City, Mo., and was a retired mail superintendent in the United States postal service. Funeral service was arranged for 3 p.m. Monday at Manton-Fry Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Lawrence Malloy of First Presbyterian Church, assisted by the Rev. John Shuler of Calvary Methodist Church, the body being sent Monday night via Denison to Kansas City. Service there will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, and interment made at Forest Hill Abbey. Brother of the late Dr. W. J. Barton, veteran Paris dentist, Mr. Barton had resided here the last three years. He was born in Pennsylvania June 2, 1866. Besides one brother, E. E. Barton of Norfolk, Va., he leaves a number of nieces and nephews.”
