THE PARIS NEWS, May 17, 2019: “Addie Bufford Jr. passed away on April 13, 2019, and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Solid Rock Baptist Church, 1110 W. Henderson St., Paris, TX 75460. Services are under the direction of Maxey Funeral Home. Addie Bufford Jr. was born on Dec. 25, 1932, in Paris, Texas, to the parentage of the late Rev. Addie Bufford and Eartie V. Anderson-Sutton, he joined Solid Rock Baptist Church at an early age and remained a very loyal and faithful member until failing health. After graduating from Gibbons High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and married Mary Louise Bufford, and during that time, a son Dwaine Bufford was born and in later years, his daughter, Veda Bufford-Marin, was born. Addie worked at UARCO and then E- Systems, now known as L3, where he worked in Tel Aviv on a peace-keeping mission. For several years, he served as chairman of the deacon board and Sunday school superintendent and he also accepted other duties as needed. He was elected to the Paris City Council in 1986, serving a number of years and was also very active in the community.” Submitted by Viola Broyles.
