THE PARIS NEWS, Feb. 09, 2011: “Thelma Louise Biggers ended life on this earth Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, in Plainview at the age of 101 years, 10 months and 6 days. Services are set for 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 11, at Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home, with Rev. Glynn Vickers and Rev. Daniel Echols officiating. Interment is to follow at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Paris. The family is to receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. She was born April 1, 1909, in Reno. She was the second of five children born to Charlotte Udell Pettit Rone and Samuel Watson Biggers. She grew up in Reno and completed her education in the Reno schools. She lived in Paris until 2003 when she moved to West Texas to be closer to family. She retired from McLellan’s variety store in 1972, and was an active member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Paris until she moved. She enjoyed doing volunteer work at the church, especially folding and mailing ‘The Messenger,’ the church monthly newsletter, and preparing and serving meals for grieving families at the church. She was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class. She loved her family and was ‘that very special aunt’ to all her nieces and nephews. She taught them to play games and taught them about their family’s history through her many wonderful stories told time and time again over the years to three generations of nieces and nephews, who will be forever grateful for this legacy. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Marvin Biggers of Reno; Swain Biggers of Petersburg; Palmer Biggers of Paris; and Katherine Biggers Rook (Mrs. Eulas) of Lakewood, Calif. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Sibyl Biggers (Palmer) of Lubbock; and her brother-in-law, Eulas Rook (Katherine) of Lakewood, Calif. Other survivors include her nieces and nephews, Kaye Biggers Orman and husband, Bill, of Plainview; Sammy Biggers and wife, Jamie, of Lubbock, Charol Rook Poth and husband, Terry, of Bellingham, Wash.; Gary Biggers and wife, Pat, of Houston; Kent Biggers and Doug Benefield of Hollywood, Fla.; Janet Rook Manion and husband, Jim, of Oceanside, Calif; and Keith Biggers and wife, LoriAnne, of Southlake. She will also be missed by her great nieces and nephews, Misti Orman Jeffryes of Dallas; Shane Orman and wife, Marcy, of Dalhart, Cecilee Biggers Echols and husband, Daniel, of Lubbock, Corina Poth Schenkel and husband, Paul, of Sacramento, Calif., Carter Biggers and wife, Mandy, of Iowa City, Iowa, James Manion and Katie Egeland of Alameda, Calif., Lauren Biggers of Austin, Josh Biggers of Southlake, Katie Manion of Oceanside, Calif., and Caleb Biggers of Southlake. Her great-great-nephews and nieces include, Isaac and Luke Echols, Karley, Max and Brunner Orman, Kai, Dylan, Julianna, Ethan and Eveline Schenkel, and Palmer, Harrison and Annabelle Biggers.
