THE PARIS NEWS, Tuesday, April 17, 2018, page 03: “Alma Jean Taylor, 77, of Powderly, died at 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, 2018, at her home. A time of remembrance and visitation with food, drink and merriment will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. on Monday, April 23, 2018, at the residence in Powderly. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of cremation arrangements. Alma was born October 3, 1940, in Paris to Rex and Alma Christine Tallant Dicken. She graduated from Sumner High School and received her nursing degree from East Texas State University. Mrs. Taylor married William Odis Taylor on July 7, 1972, in Paris. He died November 18, 2007. She was a licensed vocational nurse. She loved her family, yellow roses, and contact paper. The family’s favorite quote was ‘If you tell anybody anything about me, tell them of my love for kitties.’ Survivors include four children, Chris Stephens, Sherry James, Tammy Williams, and Richard Parker; eight grandchildren, Rachel Stephens, Jacob Stephens, Beth West, Matthew Smith, Jason Williams, April Robel, Deshrae Ashford, and Zachary Taylor; numerous great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Mark Dicken and Howard Dicken. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Tommy Dicken; one stepson; one grandson, Brandon Smith; two cats; one hip, and one breast.
