THE PARIS NEWS, Friday, December 30, 1960, p. 2: “BONNIE BLOCKER. Bonnie Blocker, 59, ill some time, died at home here, 374-14th NE. He was a brother of Shack (Ora) Blocker, formerly of DeKalb, who died early last week. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Fry & Gibbs chapel here by the Rev. Crowley Bridges. A graveside service will be held the same afternoon at 3 o’clock in Gravel Hill Cemetery, five miles north of Oak Grove in Bowie County. Son of Buck and Lydia Jane Blocker, Bonnie Blocker was born at DeKalb, September 25, 1901. He had returned to Paris about a year ago from Lubbock. He leaves these children: Mrs. Ernest Searle, Pamoa; Mrs. Keith Payne, Austin, and Roger Blocker, on army duty at Fort Hood; nine grandchildren; his brother Jake J. Blocker here and these sisters: Mrs. Eva Durham, Texarkana; Mrs. Daisy Buttram, Waco; Mrs. Dodie Hays, Carlsbad, N.M.; Mrs. Albert Chilcote, Amarillo, and Mrs. Storey Williams, English community. Among nieces and nephews surviving is Dan Blocker, son of Shack Blocker, who plays Hoss Cartwright on television’s ‘Bonanza.’”
