THE PARIS NEWS, Tuesday, February 13, 2018: “Doris Slagle Burton, 84 of Paris, passed away Feb. 10, 2018, in Heritage House of Paris. Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018, under the pavilion at Forest Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Dickey officiating. The family will be at the Chicota Community Center from 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m. on Wednesday. She was born on April 24, 1933, in Chicota, Texas, a daughter of Tom and Nannie Lou Duke Slagle. She was retired after 34 years. from KDFW Channel 4 as a scheduling supervisor. Mrs. Burton was a graduate of Chicota High School and was a member of Garretts Bluff Baptist Church. She married Donald R. Burton in Sept. of 1958. He survives. Other survivors include children, Larry Anderson, Jim Arnold and Ginger Sherwood; grandchildren, Bryan Aldridge, Jason Sherwood, Christi Fisher and Jimmy W. Arnold Jr.; great-grandchildren, Autumn Fisher, Caleb Fisher, Gabriela Aldridge, Jessica Aldridge, Ashley Taylor, Heather Hood, Kimberly Sherwood and David Smith; brothers, Jody Slagle, Buck Slagle and Ray Slagle; and numerous, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters, James N. Slagle, Emma Dean Owens, Tommie Lou Ballard, Mary Sue England and Ralph Bailey Slagle.
