THE PARIS NEWS, Friday, January 23, 1942, p. 3: “BLEVINS FUNERAL. COOPER. (Special). -- Last rites for J. A. (Jess) Blevins, 56, were set for 3 p.m. Friday at the Methodist Church here, conducted by the Rev. J. P. Flemings of Gainesville, assisted by the Baptist pastor, with interment in Oaklawn Cemetery by Smith Funeral Home. Mr. Blevins died at 4:20 p.m. Wednesday at the Sanitarium of Paris where he had been a patient three days. He had made his home in Delta County a number of years, and managed cotton gins at Enloe and Lake Creek, as well as the Cooper Cooperative Gin. Surviving are his wife and eight children, Bryan, Warren D., and Mary Nell Blevins and Mrs. Harry McClain here; Mrs. Truett Carrington, Enloe; Mrs. Morris Wilson and Clisto Blevins, Dallas and Woodrow Blevins, Gilmer; a brother Alford Blevins, Cooper, and two sisters, Mrs. Florence Cogdell, Tokio, Ark. and Mrs. Mary Short, Slaton.”
