THE PARIS NEWS, Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, page 3: “Hazel Ruth Babb, 90 of Paris, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017. She was known as Mom, Momma, Maw and MiMi. No matter what people knew her by, they loved her and were blessed by having her in their lives. Funeral services have been set for Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Brad Crosswhite and Red Holmes officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Tabor Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7-8 p.m. at Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home. Hazel was born in Sweetwater, Texas, on Aug. 31, 1927, to L.G. and Della Cole Lindsey. She graduated from Midway-Delmar High School. She married John Babb on Dec. 25, 1945, in Lamar County. Hazel was a member of Lamar Point Baptist Church. She fed many children around her table. She was known for her red beans, fried potatoes and her macaroni and cheese. Though gone from our lives, her memory and her love will live on forever. She is survived by her children, Kathy Sims and fianc?, Haston Magnuson, Connie Hughes and husband, Jerry, Ronnie Babb and wife, Brenda, Becky Allen and husband, Ed, and Jackie Babb; daughter-in-law, Gayla Babb; grandchildren, Don, Terry and Karen Ridens, Martin and Scotty Babb, Mandy Bell, Archie Sims, Pam Sims, Jennifer Duncan, Jeremy and Justin Hughes, Sherrie McCoy, Shelia and Brian Sims, Carrie Babb, Brandy Bowerman, Dustin Bangs, Heath, and Jarred and Savannah Babb; 22 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Ferd Babb; parents, L.G. and Della Lindsey; daughter, Nancy Blalock; son, Bill Babb; brothers, Otho Lindsey and Pete Lindsey; sister, Eurea Jones; and son-in-law, Archie Sims Sr. Pallbearers will be Don Ridens, Terry Ridens, Martin Babb, Scotty Babb, Heath Babb, Jared Babb, Archie Sims, Brian Sims, Dustin Bangs, Jeremy Hughes and Justin Hughes. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Lindsey, James Babb, Danny Babb, Larry Redus, Michael Redus, Bill Rhoades and Chock Whelchel.
