THE PARIS NEWS, Wednesday, October 23, 1918, Pg. 3: “The remains of Norris Bell, who died at Fort Monroe, Va., last Friday, arrived in Paris yesterday morning accompanied by Wise D. Cooper, a fellow comrade, and were turned over to Fred Manton of the Rodgers Wade undertaking establishment, who reshipped them to Deport over the Paris & Mt. Pleasant on the evening train. The funeral service will be held at 10 o’clock this morning at the home of Will Hearn. The deceased was a sergeant major senior and was a favorite among the officers of his company, who made up a handsome purse to buy flowers and extra trimmings for his casket. Ray Bell, a brother of the deceased, who is with the 11th cavalry at Fort Myers, Va., arrived on No. 5 Frisco passenger train in the afternoon enroute to Deport to attend the funeral.”
