INFORMATION FROM FRY & GIBBS FUNERAL HOME: Jay Pickering Bowman entered Heaven on Tuesday, July 29, at Dubois Hospital in Paris. His service will be held at First United Methodist Church on Friday, August 1, at 3 p.m. with Rev. Michael Walker and Rev. Brad Aldridge officiating. Visitation will follow the service. He was born on May 18, 1940, in Paris to Sybil Pickering and Jay Bowman. He attended schools in Greenville and Paris, graduating in 1958 from Paris High School, where he lettered in baseball and basketball. He attended Paris Junior College graduated from Texas A&M, College Station, where he was in the Corps and played baseball. He later earned a degree in finance from the University of Houston and was a certified public accountant. He worked for Procter & Gamble, two accounting firms in San Antonio, Weinstein Spira & Co. in Houston, and Irvin Levy Enterprises. He retired as CFO of Utex Industries in Houston, when he moved to Paris to take care of his mother. He married Ginna Hinds Walker on January 9, 2010, and they had a brief but wonderful marriage, blending families and travelling. In later years he loved to study the Bible and was in study groups at First United Methodist Church, Christ Community Church, and Calvary United Methodist Church. He was on the Downtown Food Pantry board, Paris Junior College Foundation Board, FUMC council on ministries, and was active in the Northeast Texas Emmaus Community. He is survived by his wife and three children: Bradford Jay Bowman and wife, Mirna of Austin, Rebecca Bowman of Houston, and Shana Bowman of Houston. His other children: Callie Walker Thompson of Paris, Jennifer Walker McDonald and husband Don, and Stephen Walker and wife Terri Leigh of Paris. His grandchildren were Isaiah Jay Carter, Dominic Claude and Arianna Grant of Houston, Sierra Speegle and Elise Bowman of Austin, Matthew Thompson of Dallas, Lauren Thompson, Lauren Madding, Laney Madding, Landree Madding and Blake Walker of Paris. Also, Sarah Kathryn and Elizabeth Walker of Carthage, and Stephen McDonald, Luke McDonald, and Susanna McDonald of Hackett, AR. If desired, memorials may be given to the Downtown Food Pantry, Lamar County Young Life, Youth Building Project at First United Methodist Church, Paris Junior College Foundation, or a charity of choice.

Tombstone is inscribed, “Married Ginna Walker.”
