THE PARIS NEWS, Wednesday, December 7, 2016, by Amanda Gohn:
“Fatal wreck on 195
One dead, one in critical condition
Emergency personnel work to free victims from the multi-car collision on FM 195 Tuesday afternoon.
One person is dead and another is in critical condition after a fatal, multi-car wreck Tuesday.
Victor Lawler, 80 of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, was killed at the scene, said Department of Public Safety Officer Mark Tackett. Two other drivers were involved in the accident, including 56-year-old Phillip Bettis of Blossom, who sustained no serious injuries, and 59-year-old Scott Briscoe of Powderly, who was flown to Medical Center of Plano in critical condition, Tackett said.
The accident happened in the 11000 block of FM 195 around 12:45 p.m. Assistant Chief of Faught Volunteer Fire Department Rick Browning said both Lawler and Briscoe had to be cut from the wreckage using hydraulic rescue tools.
‘The driver of a Chevrolet pickup, Lawler, was driving northbound when he drifted into oncoming traffic and struck a Ford pickup pulling a trailer, which was driven by Bettis, and a maroon Dodge pickup, driven by Briscoe. Both the Ford and the Dodge were headed southbound,’ Tackett said. ’Lawler was pronounced dead at the scene. Briscoe was flown to Medical Center of Plano in critical condition.’
Amy Robbins, Briscoe’s daughter, said her father has sustained ‘many broken bones on the left side of his body, along with internal injuries from his seat belt.’
Robbins said her father is in ‘a medically induced coma. He faces multiple surgeries to treat his internal wounds and broken bones.’
His wife, Cynthia Moffitt Briscoe said as of this morning, Briscoe ‘seems to be improving.’
The family asked everyone to keep both Briscoe and the family of Lawler in their prayers.” THE PARIS NEWS, Thursday, December 15, 2016, by Amanda Gohn:
