THE PARIS NEWS, Apr. 20, 2010: “HONEY GROVE, Elmer Ellis Thompson, 72, of Honey Grove went to meet the Lord Sunday, April 18, 2010, at Medical Center of Plano in Plano. Services are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, at Cooper-Sorrells Chapel in Honey Grove with Rev. Terry Cunningham presiding. Burial follows at Forest Hill Cemetery in the Forest Hill community in Lamar County. The family receives friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, at the funeral home. He was born May 30, 1937, in Tigertown to his parents, William Bryan Thompson and Ethel Lillian Scott Thompson. He married Wilma Jean Wilson Dec. 9, 1985, in Cooper. He wore several hats in his working life as a farmer, trucker, mechanic, auto parts store owner, and most recently running a pilot car business escorting mobil homes etc., but what he was most proud of was being a trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Honey Grove. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; brothers, Bobby Wayne, James, Jack and Eugene Thompson; son, Randy Ellis Thompson; daughter, Ellisa Ann Thompson; and grandson, Bryan David Thompson. He is survived by his loving wife, Wilma of the home; children, Judy Thompson of Paris, Sue Jablonski and husband, Lance, of Rogers, Ark., Bobby Thompson of Paris, Camay Justiss of Cleburne, Cindy Bryant and husband, Matt, of Honey Grove; stepchildren, Latonea Arris and husband, Randy, of Temple, and Jeff Hill and wife, Kristi, of Petty; sisters, Willie Faye Banker and husband, Clarice, of Honey Grove and Carolyn Ray Shelton and husband, Tommy, of Sulphur Springs; six grandsons; six granddaughters; five step-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Charles Neeley, Charles Wilson, Brandon Thompson, David Redus, J. W. Shannon and Kurt Fogelberg II. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Vickers, Alvin Fields and Terry Neeley.
