THE PARIS NEWS, Wednesday, February 15, 1978, p. 6: “Johny Twitty. Johny (Sie) Twitty of Arthur City died Monday in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Bonham. Services are set for 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Maxey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. R. L. Gray, pastor of Palestine Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Mr. Twitty was born Feb. 12, 1914, son of Johny and Magnolia (Carter) Twitty. He was a veteran of World War II, serving from Nov. 2, 1944, to Nov. 9, 1946. Survivors include his wife, Alice: five sisters, Edwina Touncil, Fannie Wollerson, Corine Hicks, Talm Lawrence and Lucine J. Brooks, all of Paris; and three brothers, Eugene Twitty and Homer Twitty, both of Paris, and Lonnie Twitty of Littlefield. The family will receive friends 7 to 8 p.m. tonight at the home of Mrs. Wollerson, 1003-SthNE.” Submitted by Tina Vickery.
