THE PARIS NEWS, Feb. 26, 2010: “Lt. Col. Carlos R. Baeza-Munz, M.D., U.S. Army retired, passed from this life Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at Methodist Dallas Medical Center. Starrett Funeral Home is to conduct memorial services at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at Church of the Holy Cross Episcopal with Rev. Dr. Terry Germann as celebrant. A reception follows the service in the church parish hall. He was a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico and of Johns Hopkins University. After completing his internship at San Juan City Hospital, P.R., he entered the U.S. Army and completed a residency in preventive medicine at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C. While in the Army, he was stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C., Edgewood, Md., Nuremberg, Germany, the U.S. Canal Zone in Panama, Fort Hood, and the Red River Army Depot, Hooks, from where he retired. After military retirement, he served as dean of clinical sciences at Ross Medical School, N.Y. He returned to Texas and served as a public health doctor at the McCuistion Regional Medical Center in Paris. He was a member of Church of the Holy Cross Episcopal. Taking final retirement due to physical illness, he spent his remaining years in Paris, which he had grown to love. He married Monica Ojeda Feb. 15, 1960, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and they recently celebrated fifty years of marriage. Survivors include his wife, Monica; his son, Rafael Baeza and wife, Julathra; a daughter, Elisa Donnell and husband, Steven; four grandchildren, Christopher, Laura, Kia and Jonathan; his mother, Aurora Baeza; and a brother, Jose Baeza.
