THE PARIS NEWS, Thursday, August 25, 2016: “John Manly Temple, 82 of Carrollton and formerly of Milton, died on Aug. 21, 2016. Funeral services have been scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016, at Wood Funeral Homes, Deport, with Mr. Nolan Butler speaking. Burial will follow in Milton Cemetery with Austin Watson, Blair Casey, Bryan Casey, Jake Temple Chad Hammock and Brantley Pearce serving as pallbearers. He was born in Minter, Texas, on Sept. 29, 1933, the son of Tully and Helen Lawler Temple. He attended Paris Junior College on a basketball scholarship and then moved to Dallas, Texas, where he married Winona Wilson of Pattonville. John served in the United States Air Force from 1953-57. He was employed by Otis Engineering as the data processing manager. He then managed the computer department for SEDCO, Inc. before retiring and returning to Milton. He was an active member of College Church of Christ in Paris. His favorite pastimes included spending time with his grandchildren, challenging his domino buddies and watching the Dallas Cowboys and Mavericks. He is survived by his children, Paul Manly Temple and wife, April, of Southlake, Rachelle Casey and husband, Phil, of Carrollton, Colleen Watson and husband, Wayne, of Corinth, Patty Pearce and husband, Kenneth, of Waxahachie. He is also survived by two sisters, Helen Temple and Hattie Hobbs, both of Paris; nine grandchildren, Austin Watson, Hannah Watson, Amanda Brennan, Alyssa Hammock, Bryan Casey, Blair Casey, Jake Temple, Brantley Pearce, Amber Brennan; and three great-grandchildren, John Casey, Amelia Pearce and Ainsley Pearce.
