THE PARIS NEWS, Nov. 30, 2010: “Orvel Neal Ballard, 66, of Paris passed away Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010. Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Nolan Butler, the Rev. Tiny Freelen and Brad Ballard officiating. Interment follows in Hopewell Cemetery. The family receives friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. He was born April 8, 1944, in Lamar County to O .O. Ballard and Rosie Morton Ballard. He married Bonnie Dean in January of 1984, building 26 years of family and memories. He retired from Campbell Soup after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Church of Christ and his family shared of his love for the Texas Rangers baseball team, searching for ‘knick-knacks' at the flea markets; but, most especially they shared of his love for his family and how deeply he will be missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, James Ballard; and a sister-in-law, Josephine Ballard. Survivors include his wife; two children, Connie McCann and husband, Leo, and Bradley Ballard and wife, Ginger; four stepchildren, Lisa McClain, Tommy Jones, Kathy Jones and Tina Fletcher; five brothers, Cecil Ballard, Willard Ballard and wife, Veronica, Hershel Ballard and wife, Margaret, Dwayne Ballard and wife, Kathy, and Larry Ballard and wife, Cathy; one sister, Wanda Montgomery and husband, Jim; along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Named as pallbearers are Cecil Ballard Jr., Dolan Ballard, Greg Ballard, Allen Ballard, Ronald Ballard and John Ballard.
