THE PARIS NEWS, Nov. 28, 2010: “Mary D. Brock, 83, of Paris passed away Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010, at Paris Regional Medical Center-South. Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 29, in the chapel of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Rusty Hedges and Rev. Glynn Vickers officiating. Burial follows in Meadowbrook Gardens Cemetery. The family receives friends from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The family will be at the home of the deceased’s daughter, Beckie Huggins, at all other times. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements. Mary Dean Copeland Brock was born May 24, 1927, in the Pinhook community of Lamar County to Allie and Claudia Haley Copeland. She graduated from Paris High School and married Van Walker Brock on March 13, 1949, in Paris. She was retired from the J.C. Penney Company as office manager and was a long-time member of Calvary United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Larry Copeland; and a sister, Betty Scott. She is survived by her husband, Van Brock of Paris; her daughter, Rebecca ‘Beckie’ Huggins and husband, Gary, of Paris; two grandchildren, Brock Huggins of Mesquite and Heather Huggins of Austin; one great-grandson, Gavin Huggins of Mesquite; one brother, James Copeland of Anson; one sister, Sue Jackson of Mississippi; a sister-in-law, Randa Copeland of Paris; a ‘special niece,’ Julie Copeland Romans of Paris; a close family friend whom she loved like a daughter, Ruby McCarty, and her family of Detroit; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family. Named as pallbearers are Charles Johnson, John Lowry, Stephen Nardone, Barry Parker, Joey Copeland and Abdulla Subuh.
