THE PARIS NEWS, Sept. 02, 2010: “SULPHUR SPRINGS, Samuel Wayne Thomas, 74, of Sulphur Springs, formerly of Paris, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010 at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler. Funeral services have been set for 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at Tapp Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Allen McCool officiating. Interment is to follow in Long Cemetery. He was born Feb. 24, 1936, in Fairlie, the son of William Bruce and Hattie Lee Hannah Thomas. He married Sylvia Hall in Paris on Dec. 23, 1959. He was self employed in Premier termite pest control. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force in the 1950s and was a member of the Assembly of God. He was preceded in death by brothers, W. B. Thomas Jr., Jessie Lee Thomas, Charlton E. Thomas, Jackson E. Thomas and Alvin Thomas; sisters, Emma L. Brown, Flossie M. Flannagan, Virginia Thomas and Sondra Gail Thomas. Survivors include his wife; daughter, Sheila Hoelscher, and husband, Greg, of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Steven Hoelscher and wife, Kimberly, Shawna Howard and husband, Lewis, and Shayla Hoelscher, all of Sulphur Springs; great-grandchildren, Kaden Hoelscher, Kaleb Hoelscher, Casen Howard, Matthew Howard and Hunter Hoelscher, all of Sulphur Springs; brother, Herbert Thomas of Mesquite; sister, Mary Fraga, of Sulphur Springs. Pallbearers are to be Felton Eppars, Lyle Wright, Lee Randolph, Mike Miesse, Billy Frazier and Johnny Gibson. Honorary pallbearers include Kaden Hoelscher, Kaleb Hoelscher, Cason Howard, Hunter Hoelscher, Josh Key and Matthew Howard. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.”
