THE PARIS NEWS, September 28, 2018: “Elinore Ott Babb, 96, of Paris, died at 9:10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018, at her home. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018, at Providence Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Semple officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 29. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements. Elinore was born March 2, 1922, in Dallas to Paul Ernst and Marion Blynn Harris Ott. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Mrs. Babb married Richard Babb Aug. 6, 1948, in Dallas. He preceded her in death April 27, 2005. She was a former substitute teacher for the Paris Independent School District, and loved children. Mrs. Babb was honored at First Baptist Church for more than 60 years of teaching in the nursery. She and Mr. Babb were training union teachers at First Baptist and were members there since 1950. She was also director of the WMU, a Girl Scout leader and a member of Paris Garden Club. Mrs. Babb is survived by her son, Rick Babb and wife, Barbara, of Longview; two grandchildren, Paul Babb and wife, Teresa, of Johnson City and Rebekah Parker and husband, Travis, of Seguin; three great-grandchildren, Elinore, James and Mykah; and numerous children whom she considered her own and was affectionately known to them as ‘Grandmother.’ She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Paul E. Ott Jr.; and two sisters, Anne Therese Coldwell and Katharine Ruth Miles. Online condolences may be made to the Babb family by visiting fry-gibbs.com.” Submitted by Viola Broyles.
