THE PARIS NEWS, Sunday, December 30, 1934, p. 2: DEATH CALLS J. D. BOATMAN. Hardware Salesman Succumbs Saturday; Funeral Monday In Dallas. J. D. Boatman, 60 year old hardware salesman, died Saturday morning at the Sanitarium of Paris, where he was taken several days ago for treatment from his home, 29 South Thirtieth street. The funeral will be held Monday morning at 10:30 o'clock in Dallas at the Ed C. Smith and Bros. undertaking chapel, burial to be in Wheatfield cemetery. He had lived in Paris the past fourteen years, being at the time of his death employed as traveling salesman for an Oklahoma City hardware firm. He was formerly connected with Dallas hardware and implement firms and for time operated his own store, the Boatman Hardware Co. there. Born in Mexico, Mo., he lived in Dallas about 23 years and in Oklahoma City four years before removing to Paris. He is survived by his widow and one son, J. D. Boatman, Jr., of Paris and four sisters Mmes. Everett Johnson, Hugh Sproul, and Bird Carter all of Mexico, Mo., and Mrs. C. C. Cohoon of Oklahoma City, and one brother, Roy Boatman of California."
