Notes
THE PARIS NEWS, September 21, 1921: “W. E. Barbee, aged 39 years, died at 7 o’clock yesterday morning at the Aikin hospital from an abscess in the side for which he had undergone an operation a few weeks ago. He was born and reared in the Maxey community and moved from thereto Paris several years ago. A few years ago he went out Western Texas to work for an oil producing company. He had returned to Paris only a short time ago. He is survived by a wife and five children, and by his mother, three brothers, E. E., C. L., and R. S. Barbee, and a half sister, Miss Clara Moore, stenographer and typewriter in the mayor’s office. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at Providence, northeast of town, conducted by Rev. Lee Garrett.”
