THE PARIS NEWS, Thursday, November 1, 1934, p. 3: "EL BETHEL CHILD DIES ON WEDNESDAY -- Leonard Ray Tharp, nine year old son of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Tharp of Brookston, Route 2, in El Bethel Community died at his home Wednesday night about 10 o'clock, after a week's illness. The funeral was announced for 4 o'clock Thursday at the residence, conducted by the Rev. W. H. Wright, Methodist minister of West Paris, with internment at El Bethel cemetery, the child's uncles being pallbearers. His parents and his grandmother, Mrs. A. D. Guillot, survive."
