THE PARIS NEWS, Monday, December 9, 1940, p. 7: "Josie Beaman, mother of Sam Beaman, Paris News reporter, died Saturday morning at the home of her daughter, Lula Hearne, on N. 24th St. Funeral service was arranged for 2:30 p.m. Monday at Olive Branch Colored Baptist Church, conducted b the Rev. A. B. Lenox of Detroit, with burial at Fairland Cemetery. Maxey Funeral Home having charge. She had lived in Red River and Lamar Counties most of her life."
