THE PARIS NEWS, Oct. 27, 2009: “HUGO, Okla., Wyman Bates, 72, of Mineola passed away Monday, Oct. 26, 2009. Funeral Services are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, at Clayton Avenue Baptist Church in Hugo, Okla. Miller & Miller Funeral Home of Hugo has charge of arrangements. The family receives friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, at the funeral home.”

Information from Mary Hall Ferguson: Services for Wyman Lee Bates will be 2 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 28, 2009 at Clayton Avenue Baptist Church in Hugo, Oklahoma. Officiating the service will be Bro. Otis Cayton and burial will be in Springs Chapel Cemetery, Hugo under direction of Miller And Miller Funeral Home. Wyman died Oct. 26, 2009 in Mineola, Texas. He was 72. Wyman was born March 24, 1937 in Hugo, Oklahoma the son of John Wimpson And Elsie E. (Burgess) Bates. He grew up in Hugo, and has lived in Mineola, Texas for the past 33 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Carmen Bates, Calvin Bates, W. J. Bates And Robert Bates. One sister Dorothy Ruth (Bates) Scott. He married Patricia Kelley on June 20. 1964 in Wichita Falls, Texas. He owned his own concrete business for more than 40 years, doing all types of concrete work. He also coached little league summer baseball and football. Loved driving his race car #99 for years. His biggest love was family his wife, kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving relatives include, his wife Patricia Bates, two sons John Kevin and wife Anna Of Quitman TX. Bryan Leonard and wife Amanda of Mineola TX. Two daughters Kelly Lynn Bates and Melissa Dawn Bates of Mineola Texas. One brother Charles Bates of Caddo, Oklahoma. Twelve grandchildren Jessica Willis and husband Adam Burks, Justin Lee Willis, Brianna Lynn Willis, Jade Wyman Bates, Jordan Robert Bates, Dillon Bryan Bates, Jeremy Kevin Bates, Brooke Annmarie Bates,Jenna Faith Bates, Alana Nicole Galaz, Zane Calvin Bates and Bentley Ross Bates. Two great granddaughters Makenna Burks and Avlyn Burks; many other relatives and friends.
