THE PARIS NEWS, Oct. 16, 2009: “Mary Margaret Tippit, 78, of Paris, went to be with her Lord Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, at Paris Regional Medical Center, at which time Bright-Holland Funeral Home received her into its care. Services have been scheduled for 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 19 at Bright-Holland Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Norris and Rev. Larry Solice officiating. Interment is to be in Long Cemetery. The family is to receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. She was born Oct. 26, 1930, in Lamar County to William B. Kelley and Irene Elizk Kelley. She graduated from Powderly High School, the St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing and proudly served as a licensed vocational nurse for many years. Her nursing career spanned more than 38 years, working for several doctors, St. Joseph Hospital and Hospice care. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church where she taught a ladies Sunday school class and was active in the choir. She also was a past WMU Director and clerk for her church. Her many hobbies included reading, sewing and church related activities. She married Carl Alvin Tippit October 21, 1944, in Hugo, Okla., and he preceded her in death, June 16, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Carl Michael Tippit; and three brothers, Don, Clifford and Bobby Kelley. Survivors include four daughters, Carla Darnell and husband, Paul, of Paris, Daris Ruddy and husband, Don, of Kemmerer, Wyo., Doris Redus and husband, Larry, of Paris and Marsha Gibson and fiancé, Mark Schepis, of Paris; two sons, Stanley Tippit of Paris and Johnny Tippit and wife, Kathy, of Paris; two sisters, Billie Taylor of Paris and Jo Butler of Edna; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Casketbearers are to be Stanley Tippit, Johnny Tippit, Jason Redus, Lynn Redus, Mike Redus, Wes Darnell, Darren Darnell and Mike Schepis.
