THE PARIS NEWS, Oct. 12, 2009: “James T. Benningfield, 85, of Paris passed away Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at his home. Graveside rites are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Meadowbrook Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Glynn Vickers officiating. The family receives friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. He was born in Lamar County July 20, 1924, to Lee and Nettie Garrison Benningfield. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Marvie Jo Emry September of 1946 in Turner Falls, Okla. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. He worked at McCuistion hospital as Director of the Bio-Med Electronics Department until his retirement. He started this department of the hospital. He also worked in the television sales and repair service. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Tony Benningfield and Eve McDorman. He is survived by his wife, Marvie Jo Benningfield; son, James Lee Benningfield and wife, Lynne; daughter, Barbara Covington; grandchildren, Sarah Benningfield and Krista Nina; great-grandchildren, Natalie and Hudson Nina. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Nina, Garry Covington, Neil Barnes, Dr. Larry Love and Dane Benningfield. Online condolences may be sent to the Benningfield family at www.fry-gibbs.com.”
