THE PARIS NEWS, Sept. 17, 2009: “BOGATA, Gracie Bankston, 97, of Bogata died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009, in Clarksville Nursing Center. Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, in First Baptist Church of Bogata with Rev. Bobby Tollison officiating. Burial follows in Cuthand Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. The family receives friends one hour prior to the services. She was born April 25, 1912, in Red River County, a daughter of Will and Annie Waddell McConnell. She married Walter H. Bankston April 12, 1930, in Idabel, Okla. He preceded her in death April 1, 1991. She was also preceded in death by a son, Baysil Bankston; a daughter, Marvelleen Houtebee; son-in-law, David Bailey; two grandchildren, Maria and Robert Bankston; along with five sisters; and six brothers. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Bailey of Bullard; sister, Nady Reed of Mount Pleasant; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. The family has requested in lieu of flowers to please give memorials to East Texas Food Bank, P.O. Box 6974, Tyler, Tx 75711.”
