| Notes THE PARIS NEWS, July 24, 2009: “Ned Baker, 74, of Paris, went home to be with his Lord Wednesday, July 22, 2009, from his residence. Starrett Funeral Home is to conduct graveside services at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 25, in Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Sanders officiating. The family receives friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. He was born Sept. 28, 1934, in Lamar County, a son of W. D. and Hattie Adams Baker. He attended Lamar County schools, then served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a Paris fireman, working at the Central Station during his early career, then was employed as a welder by Babcock & Wilcox, from whence he retired. Not being one to sit idle, he then went to work for Turner Pipe, where he was an employee at the time of his death. He was a member of the United Pentecostal Church. He married Clemmie Faye Fleming, the love of his life, on Jan. 25, 1963, in Hugo, Okla. She preceded him in death on March 22, 2005. In addition to his beloved wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby Baker and W. D. ‘Jr.’ Baker; and by two sisters, Billie Hatch and Ruth McGee. He is survived by a son, Gregory Baker and wife, Pam, of Forest Chapel; four daughters, Bobbie Stanphill and husband, Joe, of Paris, Crystal Daniels and husband, Randy, of Powderly, Debbie Duncan and husband, Winford, of Powderly and Kathy Simpson and husband, Gary, of Paris; 11 grandchildren, Shane Simpson, Christie Humphrey, Dana Duncan, Kelly Simpson, Cody Duncan, Callie Daniels, Robert Stanphill, Alivia Stanphill, Eli Stanphill, Jacob Baker and Ashley Baker; and one sister, Helen Jones, of Paris.
