THE PARIS NEWS, 24 Jun 2009: "Lena Mae Phillips Taff, 82, of Blossom, passed away Monday, June 22, 2009. Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 9 a.m. Thursday, June 25, at Blossom Church of God with the Rev. Larry Bridges officiating. Burial follows in Red Oak Cemetery. The family receives friends at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. She was born Feb. 2, 1927. She married John Hugh Taff, and he preceded her in death on March 1, 2009. She was a wonderful homemaker and attended the Blossom Church of God. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were a great part of her life, and she and Mr. Taff moved to Lamar County, 500 miles away from their home in Satanta, Kan., to be near them. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Ella Mae Ellison. Survivors include two grandchildren, Greg Withers and wife, Pam, of Blossom and Patty White and husband, Mickey, of Annona; four great grandchildren, Cody Withers, Jessica Withers, Raychel White and Nathan White; a great great grandchild, Payton Quaid; two sisters, Emma Jean Johnson and Sue King along with one brother, Dennis Yancy. Casket bearers will be Nathan White, Cody Withers, Jeremy White, Steve Lynch, Greg Withers and Mickey White. Honorary bearers will be Gentril Norris, Robert Hicks, Randall Hicks, Ron Isenberg, Dennis Black, Rod Ensz and Jerry Langston." Submitted by Lawrence and Sue Dale.

On the same stone with her husband, John Hugh Taff. Back of headstone is inscribed, "A real good cook."
