THE PARIS NEWS, Mar. 05, 2009: “Elbert Patrick ‘Pat’ Barbee, 52, of Paris died Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at Paris Regional Medical Center. Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Saturday, March 7, at First United Methodist Church in Paris with the Rev. Van Lazaroff, the Rev. Sharon Clepper and the Rev. Ed Dodd officiating. Burial follows in Evergreen Cemetery. The family receives friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. He was born Aug. 24, 1956, in Paris, a son of Elbert Elmo Barbee Jr. and Katheryne Patrick Barbee. He married LeAnn Starnes Dec. 20, 1980, at the First United Methodist Church in Paris. He attended Paris schools, PJC, and graduated from Texas Tech. He did post graduate work at ETSU. He retired from Williams Sporting Goods after 20 years employment and then worked for Paris High School for five years. He was active in the Paris Municipal Band playing since 1970 and also served as announcer for the past several years. He was also involved in the Paris Community Theater serving as board member, past president and actor appearing in numerous plays. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Paris. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Katheryne Barbee; and several aunts, including a beloved aunt, Helen Barbee. Survivors include his wife, LeAnn Elizabeth Starnes Barbee; children, Erin Elizabeth Barbee, Ethan Patrick Barbee and Caitlin Rae Barbee; brother, Mike Barbee and wife, Sarah; father-in-law and mother-in-law, the Rev. Ray and Carroll Starnes; brothers-in-law, Jeff Starnes, Charles Starnes and wife, Pam; nieces and nephews, Scott, Matthew and Michael Barbee and wife, Sandy, Michelle Johnson and husband, Mark, Ellen and Carol Anne Starnes and their mother, Tammi Starnes; Alex and Aaron Starnes; uncle, Bill Barbee and wife, Mary; cousins, Hull and Delisa Barbee and family, Linda and Kenneth Kirk and family, Katie Ann and Dennis Halwes and family, Jimmy and Marty Crouch and a host of other family and many friends. Pallbearers will be Scott Barbee, Matthew Barbee, Michael Barbee, Mark A Johnson Jr., Col. Mark Johnson, Ret., Mike Jack, Dr. Steve Clifford and Jim Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Derald Bulls, Kendall Kirk, Max Inmon and Hull Barbee. If desired, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Paris Community Theater.
